Border Guard rescues Gulf citizen off Al-Khafji coast

Search and rescue teams of the Saudi Border Guard in Al-Khafji governorate, in the Eastern Province, rescued a Gulf citizen after his boat broke down at sea, providing him with the necessary assistance and bringing the incident to a safe end.

The rescue highlights the round-the-clock role played by maritime teams in responding to distress calls along the Kingdom's coastline. Officials described the operation as standard assistance to a person in need, with no mention of any fees or charges connected to the lifesaving effort.

Maritime emergency numbers

For anyone facing an emergency at sea, the Border Guard urges the public to memorise the correct numbers. In the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, call 911 for immediate help. In all other regions of the Kingdom, call 994.

The General Directorate of Border Guard also reminds sea users to follow basic safety practices before and during any trip. These include complying with maritime safety guidelines and instructions, making sure vessels are seaworthy before setting off, and wearing life jackets while at sea.
