Border Guard Seizes Drugs in Jazan and Asir

Land patrols of the Saudi Border Guard in the Jazan and Asir regions carried out separate anti-smuggling operations that resulted in the arrest of four border security violators and the seizure of 60 kilograms of khat, approximately 24 kilograms of hashish, and 112,350 tablets subject to medical circulation regulations.

In the Al-Daer Sector in Jazan, patrols arrested four violators of Ethiopian and Yemeni nationalities who were attempting to smuggle 60 kilograms of khat. In a separate operation in the same sector, patrols foiled an attempt to smuggle 112,350 regulated medical tablets.

In the Al-Raboua Sector in Asir, land patrols foiled an attempt to smuggle approximately 24 kilograms of hashish.

Initial legal procedures were completed against the arrested violators, while the seized narcotics and tablets were handed over to the competent authorities to complete the necessary measures.

The seized tablets are classified as regulated medical products under Saudi regulations governing pharmaceutical preparations, and smuggling them is a violation of those rules. Penalties for smuggling hashish, khat, and regulated tablets fall under Saudi anti-drug and border security laws, which can include imprisonment, fines, and deportation, determined case by case by the competent judicial authorities.
