104 Commercial Concealment Cases Uncovered in June

The National Program to Combat Commercial Concealment has uncovered 104 suspected commercial concealment violations across the Kingdom during June 2026, following more than 4,500 field inspection visits,

The inspections focused on several high-activity sectors, including land freight transport, the construction of non-residential buildings such as schools, hospitals, and hotels, the retail sale of household electrical and electronic appliances, retail trade in precious metals and gemstones, and general warehouses.

Commercial concealment refers to arrangements in which a foreign party operates a business under the name or licence of a Saudi individual or entity, in breach of the Kingdom's commercial regulations. Confirmed violations under the Anti-Commercial Concealment Law can lead to prison terms of up to 5 years and fines reaching SAR 5,000,000, alongside the seizure and forfeiture of illicit funds after final court rulings.

Why it matters

The crackdown is part of wider efforts to protect the local economy, ensure fair competition, and safeguard consumers and legitimate businesses. Earlier enforcement data underscores the scale of the campaign: a quarterly update in 2025 recorded more than 8,000 inspection visits, 1,704 reports, 147 cases referred to the Committee for Reviewing Violations, and 13 cases referred to the Public Prosecution, with fines totalling SAR 2,189,600.

The program had previously offered establishments a grace period until 23 August 2021 to correct their status and align their operations with the anti-concealment framework. Residents and business owners are encouraged to ensure their commercial activities are fully compliant to avoid penalties.
