Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital–Jeddah has joined the Global Sepsis Alliance in 2026 as a Founding Pilot Partner in the development and international validation of a new hospital accreditation framework focused on sepsis care. The move places the Jeddah hospital among the early institutions helping to shape a global standard for how hospitals prevent, diagnose, and treat one of the most serious medical emergencies.

As part of the pilot phase, the hospital will carry out a structured self-assessment of its sepsis care processes and outcomes, and compile clinical evidence, treatment pathways, and system workflows tied to sepsis prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment. The work also includes data verification and multidisciplinary interviews with clinical and administrative teams, along with providing formal feedback on the proposed accreditation standards and assessment methodology.

The GSA Sepsis Accreditation Program is currently in its development and international validation stage during 2026, with a formal global launch targeted for the first quarter of 2027. Because the framework is still being tested, no finalized fee structure in Saudi Riyal, no official application steps, and no confirmed validity period have been published for hospitals in Saudi Arabia.

Why it matters

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that requires rapid recognition and treatment, so any standard that improves early detection and care can have a direct impact on patient outcomes. For residents in Jeddah, the hospital's participation signals a growing focus on measurable quality and patient safety.

This initiative is a clinical quality and accreditation effort and does not currently involve any Saudi government e-service platforms. The hospital continues to operate under its established international and national accreditation systems, including JCI and CBAHI, which remain separate from the new sepsis-specific framework and keep their own requirements and validity periods.
