The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties has expanded training capacity for the 2026 Saudi Board general-specialty programs, offering more than 9,200 admission positions to graduates seeking postgraduate medical training across the Kingdom.
The expanded 2026 intake included a separate second batch of 1,320 seats distributed across more than 95 training centers in 25 Saudi cities. Applications were submitted through the SCFHS electronic application and matching portal, with the initial application window closing on January 28, 2026. The portal reopened on August 30, 2026 for remaining positions and preference selection, while admission results were announced in batches. Training programs began on October 1, 2026.
There is no application fee for Saudi Board major-specialty and diploma programs. A single administrative portfolio re-evaluation request costs SAR 300. After matching, admitted trainees must pay the applicable annual training fee, which varies by specialty and is not a single fixed amount. Payments are made through SADAD using SCFHS billing code 129 and the issued invoice number, with invoices retrieved via the SCFHS website under E-Services then Trainee Services then the Invoice Printing Service.
Who can apply
Applicants need a health-specialty bachelor's degree or a recognized equivalent, completion of internship or a current internship letter, an academic record, a medically fit status, a valid SCFHS professional classification and registration, and a valid Saudi Professional License Exam result. Exam results remain valid for five years during the application period. Sponsored trainees must upload a sponsorship letter issued by the sponsoring employer.
The expansion matters for the Kingdom's growing healthcare workforce, giving new medical graduates broader access to structured residency training closer to home. All applications and announcements run through the official SCFHS portal, and no separate step through other government platforms is required for the Saudi Board application.
