Riyadh Schools Shift to Remote Learning for One Week

Schools across Riyadh have moved to remote learning for one week, suspending in-person classes for students and staff. The switch runs from Sunday, September 27, through Thursday, October 1, 2026.

The measure covers students, teaching staff, educational staff, and administrative staff. During this period, lessons and daily work are carried out remotely through Madrasati and other approved educational platforms, keeping the school schedule running without students and employees attending campuses in person.

Parents were informed through their schools' official communication channels, and families are being asked to follow those channels for any updates or instructions related to the week.

What families need to know

As of September 28, 2026, no official public reason for the temporary shift had been announced. The arrangement applies for one week only, with in-person attendance expected to resume after the remote period ends.

For the Riyadh community — including expat families whose children attend local schools — the practical takeaway is straightforward: ensure students can log in to Madrasati or the platform used by their school, keep devices and internet ready, and check school messages for the daily timetable. Administrative and educational staff are also expected to carry out their duties remotely during the same period.

Saudi Living will continue to monitor the situation and share any further official updates as they become available.
