Saudi Arabia has appointed Fawaz bin Zanaf bin Fawaz Al‑Sahli as President of the Transport General Authority (TGA) with the excellent rank. The appointment was made by royal order No. O/275, issued on 24 Sha’ban 1447 (12 February 2026), and published in the official gazette Umm Al‑Qura, issue 5144, dated 13 February 2026.
As President, Al‑Sahli now leads the regulatory body responsible for land, rail, and maritime transport activities across the Kingdom, and for delivering the targets of the national transport and logistics strategy. Before this role, he served as Vice‑President for the Regulatory Sector at the same authority. His confirmed appointment follows a period in which the presidency was held on an acting basis by Dr. Rumaih Al‑Rumaih.
Since taking office in 2026, Al‑Sahli has issued a number of decisions, including forming five specialized committees to review grievances and violations related to the Land Transport on Roads Law and its Implementing Regulations. On the international stage, he has led the Kingdom’s delegation to the 137th session of the International Maritime Organization Council and taken part in the 5th Türkiye Maritime Summit 2026.
Under his leadership, the authority is pushing to expand the railway sector, aiming for around 100,000 jobs in railway transport by 2030, compared with about 13,000 at present. For residents and expats, the TGA remains the main point of contact for regulated transport activities, with inquiries and complaints handled through its unified call center on 19929 and its official online platforms.
