Mazen Al-Sudairi Named CMA Chairman in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has appointed Mazen bin Turki Al-Sudairi as Chairman of the Board of the Capital Market Authority (CMA), with the rank of minister. The appointment came by royal order issued on 13 August 2026 and was announced in mid-August 2026.

Al-Sudairi succeeds Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Quwaiz, who led the authority for roughly nine years after taking up the role in 2017. The appointment was confirmed through the CMA's official media center and its verified social media accounts, which extended congratulations and referred to Al-Sudairi by his full name and title.

The CMA is the statutory regulator and supervisor of Saudi Arabia's capital market. Its remit spans the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul), investment funds, securities offerings, and the disclosure obligations of listed companies. Al-Sudairi now leads this regulatory authority, with the royal order confirming ministerial rank for the position, underscoring its standing within the Kingdom's senior governmental hierarchy.

Al-Sudairi brings around two decades of experience in financial and capital markets research and analysis. His career includes senior roles such as head of research at Al Rajhi Capital, along with advisory work to the Cabinet General Secretariat prior to his appointment.

Under his leadership in 2026, the CMA's stated priorities include developing and expanding the Saudi capital market, deepening market liquidity, broadening the investor base, strengthening links with global markets, and continuing market liberalization and foreign ownership reforms.

For residents and investors, the change is at the leadership level of the market regulator. As of September 2026, no capital-market service fees or validity periods have been officially reported as changed solely because of this appointment, and no direct steps are tied to it on government platforms.
