Gold prices in Saudi Arabia held steady after the latest rise in global markets, with local rates tracking international movements as of 8 August 2026. Buyers in Riyadh, Jeddah and other cities can expect prices close to recently published levels for the main gold purities.
On 8 August 2026, 24-karat gold was quoted at SAR 541.00 while 22-karat stood at SAR 495.00, 21-karat at SAR 473.00 and 18-karat at SAR 405.00 These figures reflect the most widely used purities in the local jewellery market.
It is worth noting that published spot rates can differ from one price feed to another. For example, one Saudi feed dated 4 July 2026 showed 24-karat at SAR 503.73, 22-karat at SAR 461.75, 21-karat at SAR 440.77 and 18-karat at SAR 377.80 Ounce-based pricing also varies, with figures ranging from around SAR 15,539.5 to SAR 17,235
Gold has moved considerably during 2026. Earlier in the year prices sat much higher, with 24-karat near SAR 626.08 and 18-karat around SAR 469.41 One price history recorded a January high of 17,289 SAR 248 SAR, averaging 16,898 SAR that month.
For residents and expats, these differences matter when comparing shop prices before buying or selling. The gold spot price is a live market rate that changes throughout the day and is not tied to any government fee, permit or service. Shoppers are advised to check current rates and compare across dealers, as final prices also include workmanship and shop margins.
