Haytham Al-Ohali Named CST Governor

Haytham Al-Ohali was appointed Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) on 12 February 2026, taking up the post at the Excellent Rank. The commission is the Kingdom's regulator for the communications, space, and technology sectors and is based in Riyadh.

Al-Ohali moves into the role after serving as Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology, bringing prior experience within the sector to his new responsibilities.

Why it matters

The CST oversees the rules and standards that shape everyday digital services across Saudi Arabia — from mobile and internet networks to emerging technology and space activities. Its decisions touch millions of residents and expats who rely on connectivity for work, study, and daily life in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and beyond.

Leadership at the regulator plays a central part in supporting the Kingdom's wider goals for a stronger digital economy under Saudi Vision 2030, including efforts to expand network coverage, encourage investment, and enable growth in technology and space industries.

The appointment reflects the continued focus on developing the communications and technology sectors as key pillars of national development. Saudi Living will share further updates as they become available.
