Health Ministry: Complete First-Grade School Fitness Checks

The Ministry of Health has called on parents to complete the mandatory school fitness screening for children entering first grade, a requirement for enrollment at primary schools. The screening is carried out at government primary healthcare centers, usually through family medicine clinics.

Parents can book an appointment through the Sehhaty application by logging in, selecting Appointments, then Book an Appointment, choosing a primary healthcare center, selecting the Family Medicine Clinic, picking a date, and confirming the booking.

On the day of the appointment, the child must attend accompanied by a parent or guardian. Required documents include the child's family ID or residence permit, along with the original vaccination certificate.

What the screening covers

The examination includes a review of the child's medical history and verification of vaccinations, in addition to a clinical examination and measurements of height, weight, and body mass index. It also covers checks for vision, hearing, speech, and dental and oral health.

The results help determine the appropriate educational pathway for the child and identify any conditions that may require follow-up or referral. Because the screening is a prerequisite for first-grade enrollment, families are encouraged to book early to avoid delays at the start of the school year. The service is provided through government primary healthcare centers.
