How to Get a Commercial Registration After MISA Approval

Foreign investors setting up a company in Saudi Arabia can now obtain their Commercial Registration (CR) through a streamlined online pathway once their investment license from وزارة الاستثمار is approved. The process is handled digitally through the Saudi Business Center and the Ministry of Commerce, with an electronic CR typically issued within one to three business days of a complete submission.

The main steps follow a clear order: securing approval from وزارة الاستثمار, reserving a trade name, preparing the constitutional documents (with Arabic translations where required), submitting the CR application, paying the fees, and finally receiving the electronic CR. After issuance, businesses usually complete activation across systems including ZATCA, GOSI, قوى, Mudad, and the national address service.

Indicative Costs

The CR issuance fee is around SAR 1,200 for a limited liability company and SAR 1,600 for joint-stock or simplified joint-stock structures. Trade name reservation typically costs SAR 40–100, while Commercial Register e-publishing runs about SAR 300–500. Chamber of Commerce membership is generally SAR 2,000–3,000

A notable 2026 change makes setup easier: وزارة الاستثمار issue and renewal fees have been suspended for most investors, meaning the CR and related mandatory items now represent the main government cost of establishing a company.

Another key update replaced the old annual CR expiry and renewal model with an annual confirmation of registered data. The CR is now treated as ongoing, so companies confirm their details each year rather than renew an expiring registration.

For residents and expat entrepreneurs weighing a business venture in الرياض, جدة, or elsewhere in the Kingdom, the simplified pathway and lower upfront government costs reflect the broader push under رؤية السعودية 2030 to make company setup faster and more transparent.
