Jazan Launches School Cleaning Drive for New Year

Authorities in the Jazan region have begun intensive cleaning operations covering around 1,360 schools and their surrounding areas, as part of preparations for the new academic year 1448 / 2026.

The campaign is organized by Jazan Municipality in coordination with education authorities in the region. It forms one element of wider readiness efforts that also include traffic-flow plans around schools and welcome activities for returning students.

Cleaning teams are focusing on classrooms, school yards, entrances, and the streets and sidewalks surrounding schools. The stated aim is to provide a clean and healthy environment for students, teachers, and staff from the first day of classes.

Part of wider readiness plans

The operation is part of broader preparation plans under the Ministry of Education for the 2026 school year in Jazan, where more than 2,600 schools are getting ready to receive over 360,000 students across the region.

At the national level, recent ministry preparation data indicate spending on school maintenance and cleaning exceeding 2 billion SAR to service more than 15,000 school buildings along with hundreds of thousands of air-conditioning units. These are aggregate national figures and are not fees charged for the Jazan campaign.

The cleaning work is treated as a public municipal and education service, not a fee-based service. There are no charges to students, parents, or staff, and no application, booking, or e-government platform is required for schools to be included. For families across the Kingdom, such campaigns signal that classrooms and school grounds are being readied for a smooth start to the year.
