Free School Fitness Screening for New Students in KSA

Saudi Arabia has completed the 2026 round of its free school fitness screening for new first-grade students, covering about 332,931 students nationwide. The program is carried out at primary healthcare centers and is offered at no fee as part of the wider Healthy Schools and school health initiative led by the health and education authorities.

The screening is designed to confirm each child's readiness for school, detect any health issues early, and determine the appropriate educational track when needed. It includes a review of the student's medical history, verification of vaccinations, a clinical examination, and checks for body mass index (BMI), vision, dental health, and hearing. Basic vaccinations and follow-up guidance for any identified conditions are also part of the program.

How to book and what to bring

Guardians book an appointment through the Sehhaty app, then visit the assigned primary healthcare center with the child. At the visit, they should present the family ID or residence permit along with the original vaccination certificate. After the examination, the family receives a result-based referral or guidance.

There is no separate validity period or expiry fee for the screening itself; it is tied directly to the student's school-entry process. This means families completing enrollment for a new first-grade student should plan the appointment as part of the registration steps.

For residents and expat families across Saudi Arabia, the initiative offers an easy, no-cost way to make sure children start school in good health. Early detection of vision, hearing, or dental concerns can help address needs before they affect learning, giving new students a stronger start to their education.
