School Fitness Screening Required for New Students

Health authorities in Saudi Arabia are carrying out school fitness screenings for new students entering the 1448 AH academic year, and have completed the process for around 332,931 students so far. The screening is a medical requirement for registration and is available across the Kingdom.

The screening covers new students joining first grade, and — under the 2026 education announcement — kindergarten and early childhood entrants, for whom it is a basic registration requirement. The examination is carried out at primary healthcare centers.

What the screening checks

The medical assessment reviews a child's vaccination status, medical history, and body mass index (BMI). It also includes checks for vision, hearing, and speech and articulation, along with dental and oral health, and a full clinical examination.

How to book

Appointments are booked through the Sehhaty app. Parents open the app, tap Appointments, then Book an Appointment, choose a primary healthcare center, select the Family Medicine Clinic, pick a suitable date and time, and confirm the booking.

The student must attend with a guardian and bring the required documents, including the family ID or residence permit and the original vaccination certificate. No fee is stated for the screening in the available information.

For families in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and other cities, completing the screening early helps ensure a smooth registration process ahead of the new school year, and gives parents a clear picture of their child's health before classes begin.
