Madinah: 2,631 Schools Ready for New School Year

The Madinah region has completed readiness procedures across 2,631 schools to welcome nearly 500,000 male and female students for the new 1448 AH (2026–2027) academic year, ensuring classes begin regularly from the first day.

As part of the readiness plan, more than 38,000 teachers have been assigned to schools across the region. Preparations covered school building maintenance, classroom equipment, textbook distribution, the completion of admission and registration procedures, and the fulfilment of staffing requirements.

New capacity entering service this year includes two new school buildings offering a combined 60 classrooms, one new kindergarten building with 4 classrooms, and 5 sports halls. The plan also adds two central secondary schools — one for boys and one for girls — and updates 21 special-education programs to better serve students with additional needs.

Enrollment and specialized education

A new specialized school for gifted students in media has opened in the region, becoming the fourth specialized school of its kind in Madinah. Registration figures for the new year include 24,600 students enrolled in the first grade of primary education and 19,700 children registered for the third level of kindergarten.

The preparations were led by the General Directorate of Education in Madinah, with operational and statistical details provided through the Ministry of Education and its regional platforms. For families across the region, the early completion of maintenance, staffing, and registration means a smoother start to the school year and greater assurance that classrooms are ready from day one.
