The 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting, and Interpreting the Holy Qur'an has entered its final rounds in Makkah, with judging committees hearing contestants' recitations across multiple sessions running through Thursday.
This year's edition brings together 334 participants — 202 men and 132 women — representing 133 countries. The men's final rounds and closing ceremony are being held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, while the women's segment has a separate competition and closing ceremony at the Hilton Convention Hotel in Makkah.
The competition is organized into five categories: memorizing the entire Qur'an with seven recitations; memorizing the entire Qur'an with interpretation of vocabulary; memorizing the entire Qur'an; memorizing 15 consecutive parts; and memorizing 5 consecutive parts.
A notable development in the 46th edition is the addition of a women's segment, broadening participation. The new phase and regulatory guide for this edition was launched for a schedule running from Safar 23 to Rabi' Al-Awwal 6, 1448 AH.
For residents and communities across the Kingdom, the competition remains one of the region's most recognized gatherings dedicated to the Qur'an, drawing memorizers of different ages and nationalities to Makkah each year and reflecting the wide international reach of the event.
