King Fahd Airport in Dammam Picks Expansion Designer

Dammam Airports Company has selected WSP Middle East to design the expansion and development of King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Eastern Province, in a step aimed at boosting the airport's capacity over the coming years.

The design scope covers the expansion of the passenger terminal, upgrades to airport facilities, entrances, and access roads, along with baggage-handling systems, digital services, and terminal wayfinding to help travelers move through the airport more easily.

Capacity targets

the airport aims to handle more than 19.3 million passengers annually by 2030, with capacity rising to roughly 32 million passengers annually in the longer term. The plan also targets air-cargo capacity of more than 600,000 tonnes

The value, fees, and duration of the design contract were not disclosed, and no official construction-completion date was announced.

For residents and travelers in the Eastern Province, the expansion signals more room and improved facilities at one of the region's main gateways, supporting growth in travel and cargo movement. No passenger-facing procedures or price changes result from this contractor appointment.
