Kingdom Holding Acquires 70% of Al Hilal Club

Kingdom Holding Company has completed its acquisition of a 70% stake in Al Hilal Club Company, taking majority ownership of one of Saudi Arabia's most prominent football clubs. Formal completion was announced on 1 September 2026, after the transaction received the required regulatory approvals.

The 70% stake was purchased from the Public Investment Fund for SAR 840 million. The deal was based on an equity valuation of SAR 1.2 billion for Al Hilal Club Company and an enterprise value of about SAR 1.4 billion. The share sale and purchase agreement was originally signed in April 2026.

Following the transaction, Kingdom Holding Company holds 70% of Al Hilal Club Company, while the Public Investment Fund retains a 30% stake. The Al Hilal Non-Profit Foundation continues to hold a separate minority stake within the wider club structure, cited at a nominal 25% in current ownership descriptions and distinct from the 70% that was sold.

Part of a national privatization program

The move is part of the Saudi sports club privatization program. Under this program, major clubs including Al Hilal were first transferred to the Public Investment Fund in 2023, before being partially privatized through sales of club company shares to investors.

For fans and residents, the acquisition is a change in ownership structure rather than in day-to-day matchday operations. No public 2026 changes have been announced to match ticket prices, season ticket schemes, or stadium access fees directly tied to the acquisition. Standard ticketing and hospitality pricing for Al Hilal home matches continue to be set by the club and league organizers. The deal is a share purchase and does not involve government service platforms or any related individual fees.
