The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has launched a new contractor qualification service for the municipal sector, giving contracting firms a grace period until 30 June 2027 to complete their qualification and accreditation.
The service, offered through the Balady A‘mal / Balady platform, allows contracting companies to meet unified qualification requirements and secure accreditation for municipal works and projects. Rather than requiring firms to complete the process immediately at launch, the ministry is urging them to use the grace period to finalize their requirements ahead of the deadline.
What contractors need to know
Balady is the official platform handling the qualification process, which sits within the ministry's municipal digital ecosystem alongside other municipal services and calculators. Companies working on, or planning to bid for, municipal projects will need to complete qualification through this channel to remain eligible.
The only explicit deadline announced is the grace period running until 30 June 2027. A Balady fee calculator is available for municipal services, though a specific fee figure for contractor qualification itself has not been published.
For assistance, the ministry's public contact numbers are 199040 for Balady and 199090 for Sakani, while municipal reports can be submitted through 940. The move is expected to raise standards and consistency across municipal works, which matters to residents in Riyadh, Jeddah and other cities who rely on quality contracting for local infrastructure and services.
