The Ministry of Commerce has begun using artificial intelligence in 2026 to process commercial reports and direct inspection activities across the Kingdom, marking a significant step toward smarter, data-driven market supervision.
The new system supports risk-based supervision, allowing inspection teams to focus their efforts where they are most needed, including in the precious-metals and gemstones sector. As part of this shift, the National Program for Combating Commercial Concealment is developing an AI-based concealment indicator alongside an electronic system for reporting suspected cases and directing inspection teams to them.
How to Submit a Commercial Report
Consumers and businesses can file reports through the Ministry of Commerce electronic commercial-report service using National Access (Nafath). After signing in, users select a new report, identify whether the business is an online or physical store, choose the violation, enter the establishment and item details, describe the report, and attach any supporting documents before acknowledging and submitting.
The service is free, with a fee of SAR 0, and the stated processing period is 7 working days. Reports can be tracked electronically, and no validity period applies to a submitted report. Support is available through 1900, from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.
For residents and businesses alike, the move promises faster handling of complaints and more targeted inspections, helping create a fairer marketplace and stronger protection for consumers across the Kingdom.
