Saudi Arabia's long-term sovereign credit rating has been affirmed at Aa3 with a stable outlook as of May 23, 2026, reinforcing confidence in the Kingdom's economy among international investors.
The affirmation rests on the Kingdom's large and wealthy economy, its vast hydrocarbon resources, and a highly competitive position in global energy markets, alongside improving institutional and policy effectiveness. The rating also reflects progress under Vision 2030, including solid non-hydrocarbon growth backed by sustained public investment, structural reforms, and gradually improving fiscal and economic transparency.
The stable outlook signals resilience to regional geopolitical risks and potential trade disruptions, supported by strong and flexible oil export infrastructure through the East–West pipeline and Red Sea terminals. Non-hydrocarbon private sector GDP growth is expected to run at around 4–5% annually in the coming years, among the strongest in the GCC, driven by diversification, public investment, and greater private sector participation.
Aa3 is an investment-grade rating in a high-quality, low-credit-risk category, giving international bond investors added confidence and supporting favorable borrowing terms for Saudi sovereign and government-related issuers. Other major agencies currently maintain stable outlooks at investment-grade levels, with A+ ratings recorded in 2025–2026.
The earlier upgrade to Aa3 in late 2024 was followed by upgrades of several major Saudi government-related institutions — including the Public Investment Fund, Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Saudi Electricity Company, Saudi Power Procurement Company, and Saudi Telecom Company — all to Aa3 with stable outlooks.
For residents and businesses, the affirmation matters because it shapes the Kingdom's overall funding costs and investor sentiment rather than any citizen-facing e-government fees or services. Stronger credit confidence can help sustain public spending on projects and services that support jobs and the wider economy across the country.
