Najran Coffee Farms Grow to Nearly 100 Sites

Coffee cultivation in the Najran region has expanded to nearly 100 farms, with roughly 100,000 to 116,000 coffee trees planted as of 2025–2026, reinforcing the region's growing role as an emerging Saudi producer of high-quality specialty coffee.

The scale of the expansion is clear in the numbers: coffee trees in Najran rose from about 4,000 in 2022 to more than 94,000 in 2024, before climbing toward 100,000 and above by 2025–2026. Farms have also entered regular harvesting seasons, with more than 9,000 trees now bearing fruit and annual production reported at over 7 tons in 2026.

Growers in Najran cultivate several local varieties, including Khoulani, Adeni, Dawairi, Tuffahi, and Taisani, with trees in the main cooperative project generally aged between three and six years. Planting continues throughout the year except during July and August, following a typical cycle of flowering in March and harvesting in October.

The sector is supported by the Najran Coffee Agricultural Society, a licensed cooperative that organizes workshops and helps farmers with post-harvest processing, packaging, and marketing. Najran's coffee has also been showcased at international events, positioning the region among the Kingdom's recognized specialty coffee producers.

Why it matters

The expansion ties into national targets to reach around 1.2 to 1.3 million coffee trees across Saudi Arabia by 2025–2026 and to develop 15 regions in the southwest into major Arabica hubs, with Najran among them. Overall Saudi coffee production goals aim for about 2,500 tons by 2032. For residents and coffee lovers, this means a growing supply of locally grown specialty beans and expanding opportunities for farmers and small producers in the region.
