Neom Aims to Build Core of Saudi 2034 Squad

The sporting director of NEOM's football club has said the club is being developed with a long-term goal: to become the backbone of Saudi Arabia's national team ahead of the 2034 World Cup, which the Kingdom is set to host.

the club's project is not focused only on short-term results but on building a sustainable structure capable of producing and nurturing players who can represent the national team at the highest level. The approach places emphasis on player development, competitive standards, and long-range planning tied to the 2034 milestone.

The commitment reflects the wider ambitions of Saudi football, which has seen significant investment and growing attention in recent years. Clubs across the Kingdom have been expanding their squads and infrastructure, and NEOM's stated aim adds another dimension by positioning itself as a pipeline for national talent.

For fans and residents, the message signals that domestic clubs may play a central role in shaping the country's football future well beyond individual seasons. With the 2034 World Cup on the horizon, developing homegrown players who can compete on the global stage has become a key priority for the sport in Saudi Arabia.

The club has indicated that its planning will continue to align with these long-term objectives as it builds toward the tournament.
