The Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, inaugurated in August 2026 the new headquarters of the National Transport Safety Center (NTSC) in Riyadh, in a move aimed at strengthening oversight of safety across road, rail, and air transport in the Kingdom.
The new headquarters brings together advanced facilities under one roof. It includes an engineering laboratory for documenting, analyzing, and reconstructing accidents; a safety observatory platform for monitoring and analyzing transport safety data; an operations control center that runs round-the-clock monitoring of safety developments; and a training hall to build specialized national expertise in the field.
The NTSC is an independent national body responsible for safety investigations covering road, rail, and air transport. Its scope includes major incidents involving trucks, buses, and heavy vehicles, incidents on the national rail network, and events involving domestic and international civil aviation. The center holds public legal personality with financial and administrative independence, and is organizationally linked to the Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, with its main headquarters in Riyadh and the option to open branches within the Kingdom as needed.
The center's Board of Directors is chaired by the Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and includes representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Transport General Authority, the General Authority for Roads, and other relevant government bodies, in addition to the CEO of the NTSC.
Why it matters
For residents and daily commuters, stronger and better-equipped safety investigations mean clearer accountability and faster lessons learned after major incidents on the roads, railways, and in the skies. Officials describe the new headquarters as a step to increase the efficiency of transport safety operations and develop national capabilities in monitoring, analysis, and investigation, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
Public contact details and electronic services are available through the center's official government portal.
