Over 85,000 Students Start School Year in Al-Baha

More than 85,000 students returned to classrooms across Al-Baha region on Sunday, 23 August 2026, marking the start of the 2026/2027 academic year. The students are enrolled in schools overseen by the General Administration of Education in Al-Baha Region.

Ahead of the first day, schools completed the preparation of facilities and classrooms, along with reception and orientation programs designed to welcome students and ease their return to the learning environment.

Public-school students in Al-Baha follow the national academic calendar set by the Saudi Ministry of Education, aligning the region with the Kingdom-wide start of the new school year in late August 2026. The academic year typically runs for roughly nine months and is divided into multiple terms, with breaks published in the Ministry's annual calendar.

Fees and digital services

Public education in Al-Baha, as across Saudi Arabia, carries no tuition fees for Saudi students, and core books and learning materials are provided by the Ministry of Education at no direct charge. Families rely on national digital channels for student services, including the Ministry of Education portal for the academic calendar, regulations, and school information.

For private schools, the Madares platform, adopted in 2026, facilitates student enrolment and management of private-school seats to improve the parent experience. أبشر is used nationally for civil affairs and family services, such as adding dependents and updating family data, which link to school records through national registries.

Private-school tuition nationally commonly ranges from about 10,000 to 40,000 SAR annually depending on grade level and curriculum, though specific fee schedules vary by school. Student records remain valid as long as the student is enrolled in the national education system.
