Prince Fawaz bin Sultan Named Governor of Taif

Prince Fawaz bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has been appointed Governor of Taif at ministerial rank, in a move announced in February 2026.

The appointment sees Prince Fawaz take over the post from Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud Al Saud, who has been reassigned as Deputy Emir of the Madinah Region.

Since assuming the role, Prince Fawaz has been carrying out the duties of governor in Taif, including receiving foreign consuls as part of the city's official activities in 2026.

Why it matters

Taif is one of the Kingdom's most important summer destinations, drawing residents and visitors from across Saudi Arabia and the Gulf during the warmer months. The governor's office oversees local administrative affairs and represents the city in official and diplomatic engagements.

For residents and expats living in or planning to visit the Taif area, the appointment marks a change in the city's senior leadership as it continues to develop its tourism, hospitality and service sectors.
