A series of high-profile investment and energy events in Riyadh went through cancellations and programme changes during 2026, with one major forum called off entirely and others proceeding after adjustments.
The Misk Global Forum, which had been scheduled for 11–12 November 2026 in Riyadh, was cancelled due to organisational and logistical challenges. No alternative date was announced.
Meanwhile, the World Petroleum Congress Energy Congress went ahead in Riyadh from 11 to 15 October 2026, after being moved from its earlier April slot. Several senior oil-company executives, including leaders of ExxonMobil, Shell, TotalEnergies and BP, withdrew or were removed from the programme ahead of the event.
The Future Investment Initiative remained on the calendar for 26–29 October 2026 in Riyadh. Organisers planned a hybrid format, allowing some executives to take part remotely rather than attending in person.
Why it matters
Riyadh hosts a growing calendar of global conferences that draw business travellers, investors and visitors from across the region. Schedule shifts can affect hotel bookings, travel plans and business meetings, so residents and companies planning around these events should confirm dates and formats directly before making arrangements.
No official fees, ticket prices, government service charges or application procedures were tied to these event changes.
