Work has begun on the fourth phase of Riyadh's Road Axes Program in 2026, a major infrastructure package aimed at easing traffic and improving mobility across the capital. The new phase covers four projects spanning roughly 40 kilometers of roads.
The package carries a total value of SAR 9.8 billion and is designed to handle more than 950,000 vehicles Officials say the scale reflects the growing demand on Riyadh's road network as the city continues to expand.
The fourth phase includes an extensive set of components: 14 major interchanges, 33 bridges, 5 tunnels, and 6 pedestrian bridges. Together, these elements are intended to smooth traffic flow, cut travel times, and improve safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
Why it matters
For residents and commuters in Riyadh, the program promises shorter journeys and fewer bottlenecks on some of the city's busiest corridors. The addition of dedicated pedestrian bridges also signals a focus on safer crossings in high-traffic areas.
Motorists and residents seeking more information about the program can call the dedicated inquiries line at 19998.
