Al-Balad Hosts Cultural Festivals in Historic Jeddah

Historic Jeddah, known as Al-Balad, is once again the stage for a series of large community cultural festivals that bring traditional music, Hejazi food markets and family activities into the heart of the old town. The programs — including the Historic Jeddah Festival, Balad Al-Fann and Al-Balad Cultural Nights — turn the historic district into a living space of heritage and arts.

The Historic Jeddah Festival is held annually in the Al-Balad district and typically coincides with Ramadan, running for around two months of cultural events. Visitors can enjoy traditional music performances, heritage exhibitions, craft markets, food stalls serving Hejazi cuisine, games, children's workshops and literary talks. General entry is free, and spending is mainly on food and crafts at the market stalls.

For those planning a budget, typical street food dishes at recent Ramadan festivals in Historic Jeddah range from 10 to 35 ريال سعودي coffee and tea from 8 to 20 ريال سعودي, and craft items commonly between 50 and 300 ريال سعودي. Access is walk-in within crowd-management limits, and the events are family-friendly with dedicated activities for all ages.

Jeddah Historic Season 2026

Looking ahead, Jeddah Historic Season 2026 is set to run from July to September 2026 across the Jeddah Historic District. Organized by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with Jeddah Municipality and the Heritage Commission, the season aims to turn Al-Balad into a "live theater" of heritage and arts with traditional music shows, artisan exhibitions, Hejazi food markets and family programs on daily and weekly schedules.

No government app is required specifically for entry. Foreign visitors, however, must hold a valid Saudi visit or tourism visa obtained through the national e-visa platform, with standard fees and validity set at the national level. For residents and expats alike, these festivals offer an accessible way to experience Jeddah's rich cultural heritage close to home.
