Saudi Arabia Draws 1-1 With Uruguay at World Cup

The Saudi Arabia national team opened its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Uruguay in a Group H match played in Miami on 15 June 2026.

The result gives the national team a share of the points in its first outing of the tournament, a solid start against one of the group's more experienced opponents. Both sides finished level after each finding the back of the net once during the fixture.

Why it matters

For Saudi football fans in the Kingdom and across the Gulf, the draw is an encouraging beginning to the World Cup journey. Group-stage points are valuable, and a share of the spoils against a strong side keeps the team well positioned as the group unfolds.

Supporters in the Kingdom followed the match closely, and attention now turns to the national team's remaining group fixtures, where every point will count toward advancing to the knockout stage.
