Saudi Arabia's National Debt Management Center is in early talks with international banks about a new dollar-denominated syndicated loan valued between $6 billion and $8 billion, The financing would carry a five-year term.
The discussions remain at an early stage, meaning the size, structure, or timing of the deal could still change, or the transaction may not proceed at all. No final terms have been confirmed.
The reported financing forms part of the Kingdom's 2026 borrowing programme, which is set at around SAR 217 billion. The plan outlines how Saudi Arabia intends to meet its funding needs over the coming year through a mix of domestic and international instruments.
Earlier in 2026, the center had already arranged a separate seven-year syndicated loan worth $13 billion, underscoring the Kingdom's continued access to major international lenders.
Why it matters
For residents and the wider business community, sovereign borrowing on this scale reflects how the government funds large-scale projects and public spending while managing its debt profile over time. Syndicated loans, arranged with groups of banks, are a common tool used by governments to raise substantial sums efficiently.
As the discussions are still developing, further details on the final amount and terms are expected only once the process advances. Saudi Living will report updates as verified information becomes available.
