Saudi Arabia is projecting a budget deficit equal to 3.6% of gross domestic product for the fiscal year 2027, The projection outlines the Kingdom's medium-term spending and revenue expectations as it continues to fund large-scale development programs.
For 2027, projected government expenditure stands at approximately SAR 1.39 trillion, while revenue is expected to reach around SAR 1.20 trillion. The gap between the two figures reflects the anticipated deficit for that year.
The forecast follows the approved 2026 budget, which sets a deficit of about SAR 165 billion, equal to 3.3% of GDP. Under the 2026 plan, expenditure is projected at roughly SAR 1.313 trillion and revenue at approximately SAR 1.147 trillion.
Why it matters for residents
The budget outlook signals continued government spending on services, infrastructure, and development projects that shape daily life for residents and expats across the Kingdom. Sustained expenditure supports ongoing work in transport, housing, and public services in cities such as Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam.
The projected deficits indicate that the government plans to maintain a steady pace of investment even as revenue and spending figures are balanced over the coming years. For the community, this points to continued activity across major national programs and a stable framework for public finances heading toward 2027.
