Saudi Cabinet Approves Global Cooperation Deals

Saudi Arabia has approved a package of international cooperation and investment agreements spanning the energy, investment, customs, and food safety sectors, following Cabinet endorsement. The agreements involve partners including Colombia, Portugal, Qatar, and Nigeria.

In the energy sector, a memorandum of understanding was approved between the Ministry of Energy and the Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy, establishing a framework for government-to-government cooperation. Separately, a memorandum of understanding was approved for cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and Planning and the Portuguese Ministry of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, setting out a strategic framework on economic and investment matters.

On investment promotion, a memorandum of understanding was approved between the وزارة الاستثمار and the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar. The arrangement focuses on promoting direct investment between the two sides and is an intergovernmental framework rather than a licensing or service product.

In customs, an agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters was approved between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, with operational implementation handled by the relevant customs authorities on both sides. A further memorandum of understanding was approved covering technical cooperation in food safety and related regulatory fields with Portugal's food safety authority.

For residents and businesses, these are intergovernmental instruments that build broader cooperation channels. They do not introduce new fees, application steps, or validity periods for individuals or private companies beyond existing regulations and licensing systems.
