Saudi Company Setup: Timelines & Key Steps 2026

Setting up a company in Saudi Arabia has become largely digital, with founders able to move from application to fully operational status in a matter of weeks. foreign-investor structures typically take between three and six weeks to complete every step, while simpler Saudi-owned entities can reach basic registration in one to three days and full operational status in two to three weeks.

The standard path for foreign investors begins with an investment license from وزارة الاستثمار through the MISA portal, usually issued within three to five business days. This is followed by Commercial Registration from the Ministry of Commerce via the Saudi Business Center, which typically takes one to three business days once the articles of association are notarized through ناجز. Tax registration with ZATCA and labor-market registration on قوى, along with GOSI, are generally completed within 48 hours of the CR becoming active.

Several government platforms underpin the process. نفاذ serves as the national single sign-on for identity verification, while أبشر validates national ID and Iqama status across business services. بلدي handles municipal commercial licenses, and every office or shop used as a legal business address must have a lease registered on إيجار or a valid ownership contract.

Labor-market deadlines

Businesses also face upcoming compliance requirements. By 30 April 2026, at least 85% of Saudi employee contracts must be documented on قوى, rising to 90% by 30 June 2026. Companies that fall short risk an establishment freeze that can halt labor-related services.

For entrepreneurs and expat professionals planning to launch a venture, understanding these timelines and platform requirements early can prevent costly delays and keep a new business fully compliant from day one.
