Saudi Fans Watch 10 Hours of Football Weekly

Football fans in Saudi Arabia are following the game in more ways than ever, spending an average of 10 hours a week on football-related content — but only about a third of that time is devoted to watching live matches.

weekly viewing breaks down into roughly 3.67 hours on live matches, 3.31 hours on football content across social media, and 3.02 hours on football video games. This near-even split shows how the modern fan experience now stretches well beyond the 90 minutes on the pitch.

The picture is especially clear among younger supporters aged 16 to 20. The most common viewing habit for this group is combining live games with highlights, cited by 45%, followed by watching the full 90-minute match at 36%, while 19% rely on highlights alone.

Where young fans watch

Digital platforms dominate how this generation connects with the sport. YouTube leads the way at 70%, followed by TikTok at 53%, with Instagram and X each used by 50% of young fans.

For the community across Riyadh, Jeddah and beyond, the trend reflects a wider shift in how sport is consumed. Live broadcasts remain important, but short clips, social feeds and gaming now form a large part of the football routine — a sign of how flexible and mobile-first entertainment habits have become in the Kingdom.
