59% of Saudi Adults Hit Weekly Activity Goal in 2025

A majority of adults in Saudi Arabia are now meeting recommended levels of weekly exercise, 1% of those aged 18 and above reached the minimum of 150 minutes of physical activity

The result comfortably exceeds the national target of 55% set for the year, pointing to steady progress in encouraging active lifestyles across the Kingdom.

The data, drawn from self-reported responses in the National Health Survey, revealed a clear gap between men and women. Among Saudi males, 66.5% met the recommended activity threshold, while the figure for Saudi females stood at 43.1%.

Why it matters

Regular physical activity is widely linked to lower risks of chronic conditions such as heart disease and diabetes, as well as improved mental wellbeing. For families in Riyadh, Jeddah and beyond, the rising participation rate reflects a broader push to make walking, sports and community fitness part of everyday routines.

The remaining gender gap highlights where future efforts may focus, with continued attention likely to go toward expanding access to activities and facilities that support women's participation. For now, the 2025 figures suggest that more residents than ever are building movement into their weekly lives.
