Nearly 60% of Saudi Adults Meet Weekly Activity Goal

Nearly six out of ten adults in Saudi Arabia met the recommended weekly threshold for physical activity in 2026,

The data show that 59.9% of adults aged 18 and above completed at least 150 minutes of physical activity The rate was notably higher among men at 63.4%, compared with 52.9% among women.

Age played a clear role in the results. Adults between 18 and 29 recorded the highest activity level at 63.0%, while people aged 80 and above reported the lowest rate at 13.4%. The gap reflects the way physical activity tends to decline as people grow older.

Why it matters

Regular physical activity is widely linked to lower risks of chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. For residents and families across Riyadh, Jeddah, and other cities, the figures offer a snapshot of how active communities have become and where more encouragement may be needed.

The results also point to areas for improvement, particularly among women and older adults, where participation remains below the national average. With growing investment in public parks, walking tracks, cycling paths, and community sports facilities, residents now have more accessible options to build movement into their daily routines.

As the survey relies on self-reported responses, the figures reflect how adults describe their own activity levels. Still, they provide a useful measure of the Kingdom's progress toward healthier, more active living.
