Saudi Insurers' Net Profit Rises 13% in H1 2026

Saudi Living reports that the aggregate net profit of Saudi listed insurance companies rose about 13% in the first half of 2026, reaching nearly SAR 1.5 billion, up from around SAR 1.3 billion in the same period a year earlier.

The improvement was driven by stronger underwriting performance and higher investment income. Aggregate investment income climbed about 17% to roughly SAR 1.4 billion, compared with about SAR 1.2 billion in the first half of 2025.

Market summaries for the period pointed in the same direction. One assessment placed H1 2026 net profit at SAR 1.5 billion, with industry profitability after zakat up 19.5% year on year. A separate summary reported listed insurance sector profits of SAR 1.87 billion — a different measure that is not directly comparable to the SAR 1.5 billion aggregate net profit figure.

For residents and expats across the Kingdom, insurance is a routine part of daily life, from mandatory motor cover to medical and travel policies. A financially stronger insurance sector generally points to greater stability in claims settlement and product availability for customers in cities such as Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.

The results also reflect the sector's growing role within the wider economy as demand for coverage expands. Continued gains in both underwriting and investment income suggest insurers are managing risk and returns more effectively, supporting confidence in the market.
