Saudi Mining Activity Jumps 19% in July 2026

Saudi Arabia's mining and quarrying activity rose 19% month-on-month in July 2026, becoming the largest driver behind a 10.4% monthly increase in the overall Industrial Production Index. The figures are index-based statistical measures published by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

The 19% rise is a short-term monthly change comparing June and July 2026, not a year-on-year comparison. The wider 10.4% July increase in the Industrial Production Index reflects combined growth across mining and quarrying and manufacturing, with mining and quarrying providing the biggest contribution.

No specific fee, price schedule, or validity period is attached to this figure. It is a statistical indicator, not a license, a fee, or a customer price change. GASTAT publishes mining and quarrying data and related economic indices through its official e-services and statistical releases, accessed via its online portal, and the process does not involve Absher, Muqeem, Qiwa, Najiz, Nafath, or Tawakkalna.

The July surge follows other signs of momentum in the sector. Earlier in the year, mining and quarrying recorded a 38.7% year-on-year increase in May 2026 within the Operating Revenues Index, pointing to strong growth in sector revenues alongside rising production.

For residents and the wider business community, the numbers highlight the continued expansion of the Kingdom's mineral resources and industrial base, part of ongoing investment initiatives aimed at diversifying the economy. A growing mining sector can support more industrial jobs, wider supply chains, and increased activity for local businesses tied to the sector.
