Saudi Regulated Hunting Season Opens Sept 1, 2026

Saudi Arabia has opened applications for its 2026–2027 regulated hunting season, which runs from September 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027. The season is divided into two phases: a fall phase from September 1 to November 30, 2026, and a winter phase from December 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027.

This season permits the hunting of 30 designated species and comes with expanded allowances for enthusiasts. The national hunting quota has been raised by 11%, while the number of hunting licenses issued has increased by 34% compared with previous levels.

Permits are issued electronically through the Fatri platform, accessed using the National Single Sign-On. Applicants simply select the hunting permit issuance service to complete their request. Each permit's validity is tied to the 2026–2027 season window and expires on January 31, 2027.

Rules and Permitted Methods

Approved hunting methods are limited to air rifles or gas-powered rifles without gunpowder, as well as officially registered falcons. For species hunted with falcons, permits are linked to a valid falcon ownership certificate or passport. Shotguns, hunting nets, attractants, and calls are all prohibited.

Hunting is banned in urban areas, villages, farms, rest houses, protected areas, and major development projects. The regulated framework aims to balance the interests of hunters with the protection of wildlife and habitats across the Kingdom.

Residents and hunting enthusiasts are advised to secure the correct permits and review the approved species and methods before the season begins to ensure they comply with the regulations.
