Saudi Arabia's growing sports sector took centre stage at the Sports Investment Forum 2026 in Riyadh, where new sports-focused investment funds worth more than SAR 700 million were launched. The forum runs from 20 to 22 April 2026 at The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh, bringing together government bodies, investors and private-sector players across three days of sessions, deal signings and an exhibition.
Among the headline announcements was a private-sector led sports development project in the Eastern Province valued at around SAR 1 billion (roughly USD 267 million). The scale of the investment points to large, multi-facility sports infrastructure rather than single-venue projects, signalling deeper private participation in the Kingdom's sporting ambitions.
On the sidelines of the forum, discussions were ongoing with international football clubs, including Premier League clubs, over potential investment opportunities within the Kingdom. The event is being organised in strategic partnership with the وزارة الاستثمار and the Ministry of Sport, which are acting as the primary government channels for major sports investment projects.
Why it matters
The forum highlights regulatory reforms, infrastructure development and government-backed initiatives that align sports investment with رؤية السعودية 2030, positioning sport as a key driver of economic diversification. For residents, this points to more sporting facilities, events and job opportunities in the years ahead.
The forum's third day is dedicated to women's empowerment in the sports sector, in partnership with Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, as part of a wider effort to expand female participation and leadership in sport across the Kingdom.
