Savvy Games Launches Youth Games Camp in Riyadh

A new summer training camp in Riyadh is giving young Saudis a hands-on introduction to the world of video game development. The Next Gen Games Camp has been launched at King Salman Science Oasis, targeting Saudi youth aged 10 to 17 across two age tracks: a junior track for ages 10–13 and a senior track for ages 14–17.

The intensive program runs for 20 hours of curriculum covering game design and development, delivered through both morning and evening sessions for male and female students. Participants are guided to take an original game idea and turn it into a working prototype, before competing for a "Best in Camp" title.

The camp is positioned as part of STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), with a focus on creativity, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and design thinking. Notably, no prior coding experience or technical background is required, opening the door to complete beginners.

Who can join

To take part, applicants must fall within the specified age group, be able to work in a team and participate actively, and commit to attending across all program days. For minors, approval from a parent or guardian is required.

The camp is run in partnership with King Salman Science Oasis, a science and innovation center in Riyadh that operates a range of STEAM labs and youth activities. The venue typically runs programs from Saturday to Thursday, with time blocks such as 10:00–12:00, 16:00–18:00, and 18:00–20:00.

For families in Riyadh looking to build their children's digital and creative skills during the summer, the camp offers an accessible entry point into a fast-growing sector, aligning with wider national efforts to develop local talent in gaming and technology.
