The Diriyah area in the Riyadh region has quickly become one of the most atmospheric places to shop, dine, and browse for crafts in Saudi Arabia. Set beside the historic At-Turaif district, its retail and dining scene blends contemporary lifestyle destinations with traditional Najdi-style markets that come alive during the season. Here is Saudi Living's practical guide to where to shop and eat in Diriyah as of 2026.
Bujairi Terrace: dining and lifestyle by the heritage site
Bujairi Terrace is Diriyah's flagship open-air dining and retail precinct, facing the At-Turaif UNESCO site. It gathers more than 20 restaurants and retail concepts in a walkable, mud-brick-inspired setting that is especially pleasant in the cooler evenings.
- Main courses at mid- to high-end venues typically run from around SAR 80 to SAR 200
- Many venues open roughly 09:00–00:00 Sunday–Thursday, and 09:00–01:00 Friday–Saturday.
- Best for a relaxed dinner or coffee with heritage views; arrive early on weekends to beat the crowds.
Zallal: Diriyah's dedicated retail hub
Opened in 2025 in the Bujairi District, Zallal is a purpose-built retail destination spanning about 8,000 m² over two levels, with around 12 retail and F&B outlets. Pricing sits at standard Riyadh mid-market mall levels.
- Drinks and light dishes typically fall in the SAR 20–80 range, with full meals higher.
- A good stop for everyday fashion, cafés, and a quick shopping break close to the heritage area.
At-Turaif souvenir outlets
At-Turaif itself is a heritage site rather than a mall, but small souvenir outlets and kiosks operate seasonally around the entrance and event zones. Expect handicrafts and cultural items generally priced from SAR 30 to SAR 300 depending on the product — ideal for authentic gifts.
Diriyah Season and traditional souqs
Diriyah Season runs roughly from early November to March, and it transforms the area with seasonal markets full of crafts, artisan goods, food, and produce.
- Entry to special souq zones typically costs around SAR 30–50
- Items range from under SAR 20 for snacks to several hundred riyals for premium handicrafts.
- Souq Al-Mawsim in the Al-Tawalie district operated during the 2025 season with a SAR 40 entry fee, open daily 16:00–00:00; later seasons use similar evening timings and comparable prices unless announced otherwise.
Ramadan nights: Layali Diriyah
During Ramadan, Layali Diriyah in the Al Ain Al Jadida area operates as a night market, typically running from around 17:30 to 02:30. Entry is free or low-cost, with spending focused on food stalls, games, and Ramadan merchandise — a lively family outing after taraweeh.
Coming soon: Diriyah Square
Diriyah Square is a planned large mixed-use retail and lifestyle destination with more than 400 retail and dining units and over 100 local concepts, designed as a pedestrianized Najdi-style shopping environment. As of 2026 it remains under construction and is not yet operating, so plan around the venues above for now and watch for opening announcements.
Tips before you go
- Evenings and weekends are busiest — book restaurants ahead where possible.
- Seasonal ticket prices and opening hours can change each year; confirm current details before visiting.
- Combine a heritage walk at At-Turaif with dinner at Bujairi Terrace for a full day out.
