The Ministry of Health is urging parents across Saudi Arabia to complete the school fitness screening for children entering the first grade of primary school. The check-up is carried out at primary healthcare centers nationwide and is a step families are encouraged to finish before the academic year begins.
Parents can book an appointment through the Sehhaty app. After logging in, select Book an Appointment, choose a primary healthcare center, pick the Family Medicine Clinic, and then select a convenient date and time. The child must attend accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Families should bring the child's family ID or residence permit along with the original vaccination certificate. During the visit, staff verify vaccinations and record the child's medical and family history, followed by a clinical examination. The screening also covers height, weight and body mass index, and checks for vision, hearing, speech, and dental and oral health.
Why it matters
Results are logged electronically, and the child is then directed to the appropriate educational track or referred for further follow-up if needed. The screening helps identify any health needs early, ensuring children start school prepared and supported.
The service is available from the time a student registers for first grade until registration closes or just before the school year starts. The exact appointment window depends on the academic-year schedule, so families are advised to book early through primary healthcare centers.
