Around 6,000 Saudis and residents took part in the Saudi National Day Run through the heritage streets of Historic Jeddah (Al-Balad) on September 18, 2026. Held under the name the Green Spirit Run, the event brought the community together to mark the occasion with a morning of sport and celebration.
The run featured two courses designed for different levels. A 5-kilometre route catered to professional and amateur runners, while a 2-kilometre course offered a more relaxed option for families and children. Both paths wound through Al-Balad's historic streets and well-known landmarks, giving participants a chance to experience the district's heritage on foot.
The event was organized by Masafat Club in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports, the Saudi Sports for All Federation, and the Jeddah Historic District program. The collaboration reflects a broader push to encourage active, healthy lifestyles while showcasing one of the Kingdom's most significant cultural areas.
For residents, the run was more than a race. It offered a free-spirited way to celebrate the national occasion, connect with neighbours, and discover Historic Jeddah in a fresh light. Community sports events like this continue to grow in popularity across the Kingdom, bringing together participants of all ages and fitness levels in shared public spaces.
