Around 6,000 Saudi and expatriate participants took part in the Saudi National Day Run, also known as the Green Spirit Run, held in Historic Jeddah (Al-Balad) on Friday, 18 September 2026.
The event was organized by Masafat Club in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports, the Sports for All Federation, and the Historic Jeddah District. It offered two routes: a 5 km course for professional and amateur runners, and a 2 km route designed for families and children.
The courses wound through the heart of the historic district, passing landmarks that included Al-Balad's traditional coral-stone buildings. The setting combined a community sporting activity with one of Jeddah's most recognizable cultural areas.
Timed with the national celebrations, the run brought residents of different ages and nationalities together in a shared outdoor event. For the community, gatherings like this encourage an active lifestyle while placing a spotlight on Historic Jeddah's heritage. The strong turnout of about 6,000 runners reflects the growing popularity of public sporting events across the Kingdom.
