Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Traffic has announced plans to establish six new driving schools across several regions of the Kingdom, opening a project tender for qualified companies and institutions to take part.
The planned schools would be distributed with one facility in each of the following areas: Asir, Jazan, the Dammam metropolitan area, Hail, Makkah al-Mukarramah, and Al-Jouf. This wide geographic spread aims to bring driver training closer to residents in different parts of the country.
At this stage, the announcement concerns a tender for the project rather than confirmed, operational schools. Eligible companies and institutions wishing to apply must contact the Traffic Licenses Department at the General Directorate of Traffic by email to obtain the terms, requirements, and technical specifications. Bids must be submitted within one month of the announcement.
What is not yet confirmed
No official establishment, enrollment, training, testing, or licensing fees have been announced for these six schools. There is also no dedicated public registration procedure for applicants or students at this time, and opening dates, addresses, operating hours, and course or license validity periods have not been disclosed.
For residents and expats, the initiative signals continued efforts to expand access to formal driver training. Once the tender process concludes and the schools become operational, further details on enrollment and services are expected to follow. Saudi Living will share updates as official information is confirmed.
