Tadawul Main Index Closes Lower in Late August 2026

Saudi Arabia's main stock market index (TASI) ended late August 2026 on a downward note, extending losses across two separate closing sessions and leaving the benchmark below the 11,200 mark.

On 27 August 2026, the index closed at 11,238 points, down 22 points or about 0.2%. Selling pressure deepened by month-end: on 30 August 2026, TASI closed at 11,158.54 points, a decline of 79.39 points, or roughly 0.71%.

The most recent August close recorded was lower rather than higher, signalling a softer tone in the market as the month drew to a close.

For residents and investors in Riyadh, Jeddah and across the Kingdom, the main index remains a widely watched barometer of local economic sentiment. Day-to-day movements of a few tenths of a percent are common and reflect ordinary shifts in trading activity rather than any single event.

Market watchers typically track these closing levels to gauge broader momentum. Those with holdings in Saudi-listed companies may wish to keep an eye on subsequent sessions to see whether the late-August softness continues or reverses.
