A recreational park in the Al-Hada area of Taif has been ordered closed after a mechanical ride failure left at least 23 people injured. The incident involved the ride known as the “360 Big Pendulum,” which collapsed during operation at Green Mountain Park. Three of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, and no deaths have been recorded.
By order of the Taif governor, the park’s operations have been suspended until further notice. The ride area has been cordoned off while a formal investigation gets underway, bringing together Taif municipal authorities, the General Entertainment Authority, and security services.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the failure, verify whether the attraction complied with approved safety standards, and review its maintenance records. Officials have also ordered wider safety inspections of recreational facilities and attractions across the Taif region, with particular attention to mechanical integrity, adherence to technical regulations, and emergency response readiness.
Why it matters
Taif’s mountain parks, including the Al-Hada area, are popular evening and weekend destinations for families from across the Kingdom, especially during cooler seasons. A stronger focus on ride certification and routine maintenance is meant to reassure visitors that attractions meet safety requirements before they reopen.
As of the latest information, current ticket prices and operating hours for Green Mountain Park are not confirmed following the suspension. Authorities have not announced any new nationwide ticket caps, inspection fees, or ride-certification charges tied directly to this incident. Saudi Living will share verified updates as the investigation progresses.
